Easter On James

Ok so Easter Weekend has come and gone, even though Hamilton and James St. North was pretty much dead I hung out a lot in Steel City. Now even though Mixed Media was closed on Good Friday I did get to pop by and talk  to Dave and Teresa (who's name I don't know how to spell). While gabbing about wierd strangers/ homeless people kept looking into the windows and I guess were suprised about the store/ looking for something to do since most places were closed. Dave made a good point that the day seemed like Hamilton of past where James had these huge gaps of dead store fronts. Think about it, The Print Studio is in the old army surplus store which closed a long time ago, You Me Gallery I don't even know what was there before because I didn't even go past ..... wait I don't even remember really going on James at all. Man up until the past year or two I don't even remember doing anything there. Ouch! And I am one of those people who likes wandering around. Oh but luckily Pane Del Sole was open and went there a bunch!

On a bad note this week two friends got hit by a car on James and Cannon, they weren't even jaywalking, man do you need any more proof to jaywalk !!

On the website front, I took a free template and made a bit more of a clean version of the site, I'll go back clean/add some more. But for now looks good. I want Matt Jelly to come up with something good later.

Printing

Ok so this week was great I was on vacation, I mainly hung around the Print Studio to work on a reduction print, I got about 3 layers done, not too much but better than nothing. Passed off my DreamCast to Matt Jelly and the whole Barton house, sad but much needed on their part. Discovered a awesome place called Pan Del Sole a awesome Italian Bakery on Cannon, thanks to Meghan! Also have been on a mad dash trying to work on the website getting it ready for the end of this month in a rough version. I have also got Ken, Gary, Dave working on it too. I also just registered jamestreetnorth.ca , basically for lazy people who don't like the other "S" and also it looks cleaner. I will probably ken or dave to redo the James st. Map for a postcard size.

Anyways I better start getting ready for work!

Ciao!

First Post

Ok, so here is the first in a series of blogs about the Amazing place in Hamilton called James Street North. First some background, James Street North is located in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. It's the new art district of Hamilton and is packed full of so much life I have to spread the word about it!!

James street has and is still largely a Italian and Portuguese are full of nice shops/ social clubs and stores that really just cater to that community. The new art prescence consists of about 8 galleries/ art not for profits. So right now all the galleries and non profits and one art store is slowly geting into shape and starting to get things going.

Well Hopefully see you on James Street North!
